This Privacy Policy describes how Whirlpool Southeast Asia Pte. (“Whirlpool”) and its brands collect, use and disclose personal information we learn about customers in Singapore. Whirlpool is bound by the Singapore Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”). Certain specialized services offered by Whirlpool have their own websites and corresponding privacy policies that can be viewed on those websites.

YOUR CONSENT AND PREFERENCES

Whirlpool may, from time to time, contact you with information regarding our products or services. These communications may come from Whirlpool, one of its brands or third party service providers, and may involve product and order related information, payment, delivery, installation, warranty (including warranty registration), technical and service related issues, business improvement, surveys and/or research. If you have opted in to receive promotional or marketing related communications from us or one of our brands, you may also receive communications for such purposes. To contact you, Whirlpool, and its brands may use the personal information you provide to us, including name, e-mail address, address or phone numbers and disclose such information to third party service providers for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

By using this web site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and expressly consent to Whirlpool’s collection, use and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy applies only to information provided by or collected from customers in Singapore and is not intended to describe data handling procedures for information collected by other linked websites or business partners.

You may, at any time, inform us that you withdraw your consent in relation to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information and do not want Whirlpool, its brand or the third party service providers to contact you by sending your request to our Data Protection Officer using the contact information below. However, if you withdraw your consent, the products and/or services you requested may not be provided or the products and/or services may be refused or forfeited.

If you make an order on behalf of another person, you represent that you have obtained the consent of such person to the disclosure of his/her information and his/her acceptance to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION DOES WHIRLPOOL COLLECT?

Whirlpool collects information on customers that Whirlpool considers to be reasonably necessary for its (and its brands’) functions and activities. Whirlpool collects two types of information: personal information (including but not limited to name, mobile/residential telephone number, email address, profile, payment information and residential address) and aggregate or “combined” information. We may also receive personal information about you from third-party sources, such as publicly-available sources, social media platforms, and providers of third-party products or services or third party service providers, and combine such personal information with other personal information that we have collected. If we receive personal information about you from a third party, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the third party from whom we receive such information can validly give consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. Personal information is data specifically about or which can be used to identify you . Personal information may be provided by you voluntarily, collected from third parties as described above or collected automatically through cookies, web beacons and log files as further described below. Aggregate or combined information includes data that is related to you but studied as a group and does not identify you specifically.

WHAT ARE COOKIES, WEB BEACONS, AND LOG FILES?

Cookies – cookies are small text files that we may store on your computer to help us identify your computer the next time you visit or to enable some functions on our websites. Whirlpool’s third party service providers and business partners may also use cookies to collect non-personal information from visitors to our sites. We may use such information to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and websites. Your continued use of our website shall be deemed as consent to our collection of such information through our use of cookies. If you are not comfortable with our use of cookies, please review your browser software to learn how it may be set to notify you when you receive a cookie or to reject all or certain cookies. However, disabling cookies may limit some functionality and your experiences on our websites.

Web beacons – web beacons are miniscule electronic image files that can be embedded within a web page or included in an e-mail message, and are usually invisible to the human eye. When used, web beacons (also known as “clear GIFs” or “tracking pixels”) may tell us such things as: how many people are coming to our websites, whether they are one-time or repeat visitors, which pages they’ve viewed and for how long, how well certain online advertising campaigns are converting, and other similar website usage data. When used in an e-mail, web beacons can tell us the time the e-mail was opened, if and how many times it was forwarded, and what links users click on from within the e-mail message. Based on this information, we can adjust the content, products, services, and promotions we provide you to better meet your interests, as well as make you aware of Whirlpool products, services, and/or special offers in which you may be interested.

Log Files – these are files that record web activity and gather statistics about your visit to or use of our websites. Log files may help us capture, among other things: (i) your IP Address, which is a unique set of numbers assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) (note that, depending on your ISP, the number assigned to your computer can be different every time you connect to the Internet); (ii) the type of browser and operating system you use; and, (iii) other information about your online session, such as the URL you came from to get to our website and the date and time you visited our website. In addition to using this information to better understand how our websites are used, we may use information captured through log files such as an IP Address (together with your personal information) to troubleshoot technical problems, maintain online safety and security, and if necessary, prohibit or restrict access to our Online Services by certain users.

Interest-based Advertising – Select parties may place advertisements for our products and services on websites operated by others. These third parties will use cookies and web beacons to measure the effectiveness of our ads and to determine the display of content and advertising to you based on your interests both on our site and other sites that you may visit. To support these activities, Whirlpool, our service providers, and business partners may use information about your visits to our and other websites. You can configure your mobile device privacy or advertising settings via “limit ad tracking” on an iOS device or “opt out of interest-based ads” on an Android device to limit how apps track activity for advertising purposes. Options you select and choices you make are browser, website and device specific. If you clear your cookies or your browser’s cache, you will need to set your preferences again. Your browser may offer you a “Do Not Track” option, which allows you to signal your preferences to certain website operators that you do not want them to track certain of your online activities. However, our websites do not support Do Not Track requests at this time. Please note that even if you choose to remove your information or opt-out, you will still see advertisements while browsing online. However, the advertisements may be less relevant to you and your interests.

Whirlpool may use your personal information for the purposes of fulfilling and processing orders, payment, delivery, installation, warranty (including warranty registration), complaints, technical and service related issues, business improvement, surveys, research and auditing Whirlpool reserves the right to contact you concerning the safety of your appliance regardless of your stated privacy preferences or if you withdraw your consent. In reliance on the legitimate interests exception in the PDPA, Whirlpool’s rights under this paragraph apply whether or not you have consented (or withdrawn your consent) to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information for such purposes. Please contact our Data Protection Officer using the contact information below should you have any queries in this regard.
